Similarly, having agoraphobia or panic disorder with agoraphobia does NOT mean you are crazy, eccentric, or hopelessly mentally ill. Some people correlate agoraphobia with delusional “Howard Hughes” type behavior, but nothing could be further from the truth. Although Hollywood likes to portray agoraphobia this way in movies, agoraphobia and panic attacks have NOTHING to do with and DO NOT lead to other mental illnesses like schizophrenia.

2.  Identify Your Specific Triggers and Root Cause For Your Anxiety and Panic Attacks

The most critical first step an agoraphobic or someone struggling with panic attacks can take is being evaluated by your primary care physician to rule out any physical or medical causes for your symptoms of anxiety.
